Andrew Carnegie once said…

No person will make a great business who wants to do it all himself or get all the credit.

Remember: The people who work for you have their own dreams, so do your best to fulfill them within your company – especially if they’re great people.

When you start up a company and begin hiring folks to help achieve your own goals, all the sudden, this “thing” you’ve built isn’t just yours anymore.  You begin to realize that your dream growing a successful, sustainable business can only be gained if others help out.

It takes teamwork to realize a bigger objective, but you must take care of the team.  Ensure that your employees have incentives to make them work hard and achieve results.  Most of us have been in this position at one time or another, but there is no worse feeling as an employee than being on a one-way street with no growth or, let’s face it, money-making potential.  You don’t want good employees who give 100 percent; you want great employees who give 110.

Plus, there’s no faster way to lose sleep than if you have employee issues on your mind.  Understand that their livelihood, and their family’s livelihood, rests, in part, on your shoulders.  Take care of them, and they’ll take care of you.

Great business leaders, I think, are motivated by the success of other people instead of their own success.  Because as the classic business leader Andrew Carnegie said:

No person will make a great business who wants to do it all himself or get all the credit.
